EASTER AKA #HALLELUJAH

(Letter sent March 28, 2016)
whattup family!

i hope you all had such a great week and easter! i know i did. this easter was probably the best one of my life. and this week was pretty great, too :)

weekly highlights:

1. happily ever after: so we were visiting this less active that we see each week and she had the talk "happily ever after" by pres. uchtdorf. and i was like "i love that talk!" and she was like "yeah it's pretty good. pres. uchtdorf is just so tan and tall and has great hair. mm... man, HIS wife's gonna get a happily ever after..." and i was like k...................... why is every older lady obsessed with him? lolol that's not the first time someone has told me they love him ha!
2. women's conf: okay wasn't it SO GOOD?! i loved it all. i want that to happen every week, can it plz? so they asked us all to bring a treat to share so we brought brownies and a lady brought a cheese platter but the problem is that there were like legit five people there HAHA so we got sent home with a whole plate of cheese. like what is this. my body does not need this #igot11monthsitschill
 3. EASTER: best easter of my life. no joke. haha we went over to a member's house and it was super fun. they had us build like these towers with toothpicks and jelly beans haha and they fed us this super good meal too so it was just a #winning day. i love holidays as a missionary. they are the best.

teaching:

1. larry: so we taught him the resto this week and then the next day we got a call from him. i thought he was gonna drop us! haha but instead he goes, "well sister hill, i did what you asked... i prayed.. and i feel great! do you guys wanna meet right now?!" and we were like HECK YEAH!!!!!! so we met him and he told us how he feels so good and it feels like the truth and he wants to be a part of the truth. what!!!! i was freaking out. miracle moment for sure.
2. nici and lina: we watched the easter video with them and they loved it. they havent been reading the BOM yet but nici said they would this week :)
3. abrion: we met with abrion and watched the easter video with her, too. she loved it. she told us how she is ready to change her life and we told her how that's our job! is to help her change her life haha so hopefully we can start to see her progress in the gospel!
4. we also picked up a couple new people this week that we are pumped about. this week had lots of miracles yay!

i wanted to share my favorite quote from women's conference this week:

"love is making room in your life for someone else."

it is so true! we can all serve in some way... it doesn't have to be huge. so, look for ways to love others this week :)

i hope you all enjoy conference! it's the best weekend of the year!

i love you all!

WHAT?

(Letter sent on March 21, 2016)

hi family!

okay this will probs be a shorter email haha... sorry but oh well! this week was good but I just can't even remember what happened.. every night sister peel and i were like "wait what even happened today?..." lol

weekly highlights:

1. custard cup: okay it doesnt compare to lix but its pretty good! we were eating it outside and it was probs like 50 degrees and sis peel goes "um can we eat in the car? my fingers are blue..." and i look and her fingers are literally BLUE! like what! i was like lol yeah... almost gave my comp hypothermia oops :/
2. whip it gurl: so stephen and his sisters had a whip and nae nae contest for us the other day. it was probs the best moment of my lyfe. the kids can dance man

teaching:

1. sherri: taught her the gojc and it was good. she is still pretty closed off and kinda argumentative when we talk haha i think that once she knows the BOM is true, she will have no problem accepting everything. she said she will ready 2 nephi 31 and pray about it so we'll see!
2. abrion: we started the bom with her and she really liked it! she needs the gospel so bad in her life and i think that she is totally prepared and ready! she loves the sisters haha we are excited about her!

so this week we heart attacked a less active bc she was sick and then we got to go see her a couple days later and she told us how it made her feel so happy. she told us that it was what she needed and that it has even sparked gospel conversations with people when they come to her door and see the hearts with scriptures on them :) she thanked us for following that prompting we got and said how we are planting seeds without even knowing it! that was so cool to hear from her bc we didnt think too much of it when we heart attacked her, but it's introduced people to the gospel in a small way. so, never shake off a prompting! you never know what Heavenly Father will do through you!

i hope you all have a great week and a great Easter. I love the Savior so much and am grateful for everything He has done and still does for me each day.

i love you!
xoxo,
sister hill

TURN UP

Hiiiiii fam.

I hope you all had a bomb week, because WE DID!

Weekly highlights:

1. Zone Conference: oh my gosh I want Zone Conference every week of my life. So much spiritualness being thrown at you it's so fun! The main focus was on repentance and teaching it to our investigators. Basically I've been teaching repentance wrong my whole mission hahahaha but that's why we have trainings! It was so good. Also my favorite quote from Zone Conf: *one of the ap's* "If we could all please TURN UP to Alma 53... I mean turn TO, turn to..." Smooth. lol
2. Exchanges: I love exchanges! I got to go to Springfield with Sister Furniss! She leaves in a few weeks which is super sad. She's so cool. We had lots of fun and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time hashtag tender mercy.
3. I got to go to Indiana so that's fun!

Teaching highlights:

1. Stephen: HE GOT BAPTIZED! It was so awesome. He was so pumped. I'm so proud of him. Even though he really doesn't understand a whole lot about the gospel since he's 9, he does know that he needs to follow Christ. That's the most important thing! He will be such a great member of the church and a great missionary one day :)
2. Shaniah, Za'nyra, Isaiah: we have been teaching them the Articles of Faith each week. So this week we did number 3! And we taught them it in Walmart!!!!!! I never thought I would be teaching the gospel in a Walmart but I did. Yay cross that one off my bucket list haha
3. Arianna: she is 10 and is excited to be baptized too! We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ and set a baptism date for April 10 :) I love all these kids that I get to teach. It's so fun!

That was our week! I love getting to read Conference talks every morning. They put me in such a great mood. So if you haven't started, start today and read one a day. It will make you happy :)

Okay I hope you all have a great week! Go watch the new Easter video on lds.org
It's bomb.

#HUGLYFE

What's gooooood?
This week went by so fast idk what even happened lol... it was a good week though!

Weekly highlights:

1. laundry4dayz: we helped Bernice (recent convert) do laundry while we studied the temple book haha she had all these clothes in storage so it took literally like 3 hours to do all her laundry. It was crazyyy. We were all so tired after because she lives on the second floor so we had to carry all the laundry up to her apartment after washing it #workout4life
2. Primary goes wild: so all the primary leaders except two were gone so they asked us to help out in primary. Sister Peel and I did sharing time and you know you've done a bad job when the kids can't even remember what you talked about 5 minutes later hashtag fail. But you shoulda seen the elders do singing time. Idk which was funnier. Afterwards I was like dude I need a nap stat lol so much more respect for all you primary leaders out there🙌

Teaching:

1. Sherri: she is one of our investigator's and she's in her 70's probably. We were talking about the restoration with her but she kept asking random questions but then she asked why it's important that we follow ONE path if we're all going to heaven anyway. So we read 2 Nephi 31:5 and talked about following Christ's example and being baptized. She said that when she comes to know that everything is true that she will get baptized! Yay! It was super cool because we really had to listen to her in that lesson to know what her concerns were.
2. Nici and Lina: we taught the restoration and it was so good! They KNOW this is true. They will be baptized. It's just a matter of time! They just need some major loving into this church which they will get. They're so awesome and have been so prepared. The whole time we were teaching, you could just see the Spirit working and everything was clicking with them. So so so cool.
3. Stephen: he finna get dunked on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get pumped get pumped! He's so precious. We got his baptism plans all made and he's ready to go! He always talks about how he wants to be a missionary and he will be such a good missionary one day :) He reminds me sooo much of Brett. His favorite basketball player is Steph Curry and he and Brett just have the same personalities. I found the Illinois version of Brett ;)

That's about it for the week! It was super good and this week will be so fun, too. We get to have Zone Conference tomorrow which we are pumped about!

I hope you are all getting excited for General Conference! I've been reading a talk a day to prepare and you should too :) There are so many good ones.

I love you all and hope you have a great week!

xoxo,
sister hill

HEY BAE YOU FINNA BE DUNKED SOON

(Letter sent February 29, 2016)

ohhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyy.

I'm in Danville! It's been kind of a crazy week but it's been good! Danville is pretty much the exact opposite of Potosi lol...... so yeah..... but it's been fun to experience different things :)

Weekly highlights:
1. Jillian lied: okay so like on Wednesday, all the cars were grounded in the mission because of snow. So we decided that we were gonna walk to some appointments right? So... I'm like "hey Sister Peel how far away do these people live?" and she said like 8 minutes so I'm like k chilllllll we can walk there no problem. HAHAHA. Biggest mistake of my life. We start walking and there's like a small blizzard just casually happening and there's like at least 6 inches of snow on the ground so it's kinda hard to walk in. It took us an hour and a half to walk to our appointments hahahahahahahahaha so after the appointment we were done and the next day, my hips were SO SORE. Like that should not happen ever. I've been doing Jillian videos everday so like.... I should be fit...... it was so sad. Starting Danville off with a bang.
2. Okay everyone here says bae and finna for their normal vocab. I was like Sister Peel! I FOUND MY PEOPLE. hahahahhahahaha like the kids too! Everyone's just always like "I finna get a bike soon" or "bae your dad finna be here to get you" or "we finna eat dinner" like what??!!!!!!!!!!
3. SIX MONTHS AKA BIG LEAGUES LOL: okay I made it to 6 months. I remember waiting fooorrreeevvveeerrr to hit my 2 month mark and here I am #startedfromthebottom Sister Peel and I went and got donuts obviously because we had to celebrate!

Teaching:
1. Stephen: okay he's my favorite. He is 9 and is the grandson of one of our recent convert's. He has a dunk date for March 12 eeeeep! He is adorable and loves the gospel so much. We taught him a bunch of the commandments this week and he told us that when he goes to church he "feels safe and happy!" Okay my heart was just like melting a little tbh. He also told us that he can't wait to be a missionary. Thassss right. He's my new little bff.
2. Terisa: Terisa's kids just got baptized but we are still teaching her. She is a little more stubborn but she'll get there eventually! We talked about the priesthood and it was so cool to see her young kids help us teach about the priesthood. They were saying how they were able to get baptized because of the priesthood and I was like yesssss! It was super cute.
3. Nici and Lina: a mom and daughter that have met with the missionaries a lot in the past. Sister Tuprin and Sister Peel picked them back up last week. So yesterday we watched the Prophet of the Restoration movie with them which was sooo good. You can't watch that movie and not feel the spirit! The Spirit was really strong and they both committed to pray and ask if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

Okay I know my mom is gonna want more details of the area so I'll give some real quick ;)

The ward is pretty small. Smaller than Farmington Ward was. There are a lot of really good, solid families though which is such a blessing!

We share a ward with Elders. They cover the south side of Danville (aka the more sketchy areas so mom, you can sleep well haha) and we cover the north! I love sharing wards! It's so fun!

Part of Indiana is in our area so that's cool.

It's not as small town as Potosi.... there's a TJ Maxx. Wut is lyfe. This is basically a big city!

Oh and there are other Sisters in our district so that's fun!

Okay that's all I could think of to tell you but basically it's a good area and I'm excited to serve here for a while! :)

I hope you all have a great week.

xoxo,
sister hill
