MIRACLE ON LOCUST STREET

Hi family! I hope you all had a great week!

This week was so good. Here's what went down...

Weekly highlights:

1. District Meeting at the Academy: district meeting was soooo good this week. We had it at this place called the Academy. It was our last one and it was just so sad because the FAM is breaking up ;( bye #crying my heart was literally breaking the entire time. DON'T TELL ME I HAVE TO LEAVE THEM THIS IS NOT OKAY. Seriously, it was rough. But it was still fun because the Academy is like this old nun place which is pretty cool.
2. Ok bye: we got transfer doctrine on Saturday! I was freaking out all day (usual) and made our District leader call us first (usual) lol so I'm going to DANVILLE, IL and Sis. Knight is staying here and getting Sister Grover as her comp! So fun but also sad :( I spent most of the week just saying bye to people and telling people they better add me on facebook lol good ole social media. Danville has a Ross though sooooooooo I'm not even mad about that #blessed

Teaching highlights:

1. Julie K aka MIRACLE ON LOCUST STREET: okay people, so we have been trying to get Julie K to read the Book of Mormon for a longggg time (like at least 6 months because we have been the whole time I've been here...)  The other day we went over and had a "real talk" with her and told her how nothing in her life is ever going to change unless she reads the BOM. We were super bold and loving of course and told her how she needed to just do it. So I prayed real hard that she would do it. And guess what? She texted us a couple days later and said that SHE READ THE BOM. ON HER OWN. I was like almost literally crying I was so happy. Best going away gift ever :) She told me that I'm pushy and have tried really hard so she decided to just do it hahahahah I was like thanks.......... and she said she will read it this week too!!!!!! Seriously thank you Heavenly Father! Now is her time! I'm so pumped!
2. William: we taught him tithing, fasting, and obeying the law. Also we went over the baptism interview questions. William is so awesome! He is still struggling with coffee so we pushed his date back to March 6 but he will be totally ready by then. He's so prepared!
3. Tracy: okay so here's a cool story! All of our plans fell through on Thursday. ALL of them. All our scheduled lessons, all our backup plans, everything. So eventually we were like okay lets go try Tracy, one of our Less Actives.. so we go over there and Tracy is super happy to see us and we get talking to her and she told us how she was hoping we would come see her that day! We usually see her on Sundays or Mondays but she was hoping we would come on Thursday, and we did.. because our plans fell through! That was a testimony builder to me that God knows where we need to be and He will lead us to who we need to see that day. So cool!!!

Okay I need to give a quick shoutout to Potosi. My baby area! Not gonna lie... it is really hard for me to leave. I have grown to love this area and these people and these missionaries I've gotten to serve around. Change is sooo hard but so good.

We were talking about transfers and someone said how the zone leaders and ap's and President Morgan know where we need to go and who we need to be with that is going to help us reach our full potential as a missionary. I love that. And it's so true. Potosi has helped me grow so much, but now I need to grow even more :) Danville will be so awesome!

I hope you all have a great week! #ILOVEPOTOSI

VALIANT FINDS

(Letter sent February 15, 2016)

Hey fam.

I hope you all had the best Valentine's Day everrrrrrrrrrrr.

Okay I'm so lazy today so this email will probs be short. sns. :/

Weekly Highlights:

1. Valiant finds what: okay so like we get this voicemail and our mission did this thing for Valentine's day where we called it valiant finds day lol so people wouldn't get trunky. So like church was cancelled because 2 inches of snow................................................................. moment of silence.......................................................................... so we just went tracting like all day so we could valiantly find. Get it get it? haha
2. Casual flame: so mom sent me these cute plates that had gold foil on them but I am stupid and so I put it in the microwave and like ten seconds later I see this FLAME in the microwave. Everyone stay cool its just a casual day lol

Teaching Highlights:

1. Tina and Cheyanne: we read the Book of Mormon intro and watched the restoration dvd with them. It was so GOOD! Tina said that after she prayed about the things we taught, that she felt "soothing happiness." Investigators like this are one of a kind! They are so awesome to teach. The spirit was definitely there the whole time! Cheyanne even said the closing prayer :) I love them!
2. Tammy: we picked up a new! Her name is Tammy and she's so cool. We introduced the Book of Mormon and got to know her better. She's so cool!

And that's it for this week! sorry it's so short, I'm just getting lazy haha

I hope you all have a great week!

"WE'RE GONNA SEE PREZ!"

Oh my goodness.

This week was one of those weeks where I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY.

*crying* it was so good.

Weekly highlights:

1. Feels just like a purse: so one of our less actives, Christan, has lots of snakes. So he brought one out the other day and was like "hold it, it feels just like a purse!!!!" lol what. I didn't hold it but I touched it hehe Sis Knight held it though. Proud momma moment.
2. President interviews: eeeeeeeeeeeeep! we had interviews this week! The night before we were like running around our apartment trying to pick out outfits. We were having clothing malfunctions and Sis Knight was like "it has to be perfect WE'RE GONNA SEE PREZ!!!!!!!!!" hahahahah basically he's like a celebrity. No but for real.... President Morgan is so awesome. I hope everyone gets to have a mission president like him! He was just like joking around in our interview. Whata guy. Also my favorite quote from district meeting: "if it wasn't for the sacrament, I probably wouldn't even go to church..." HAHAHA no.
3. Buried alive: we were helping Sister Steinmeyer rake some leaves and we noticed this little area of sand in her backyard and asked her about it and she said "oh that's covering something that I buried that will not be mentioned..." wut. Who knows what's under there lol

Teaching highlights:
1. Andrew: we taught him the restoration. He doesn't believe in God so we spent a long time talking about that. He has some pretty funny theories and challenged like everything we said haha for example he says that prayer is "telepathy to a cosmic zombie" k, but by the end of the lesson, the spirit was SO STRONG. It's the coolest thing to feel it prompting you to say certain things. Teaching the gospel is the coolest.
2. Dennis: we finished the recent convert lessons :) we talked about eternal marriage and he was like "well that's our main goal isnt it?" and I was like yessssss Dennis, and then after the lesson Dennis was like "thank you guys for all you've done for me, you've done a great job" and I was like k bye crying. Seriously I love them.
3. William: we had such a GOOD lesson with him! We went over the Word of Wisdom because he has a problem with coffee. He is so awesome though... he took it upon himself to stop drinking coffee so he cut back to 3 cups a day instead of 4! We set a new date with him for Feb 28 :) he said how he just wants to get baptized so he can finally do what God wants him to. He's so awesome!!!!
4. Tina and Cheyanne: we picked up 2 new investigators this week! It was so awesome!!! Tina is the mom and Cheyanne is her 18 year old daughter. Sisters had tracted into them before and Tina is actually the sister of another one of our investigators. We finally caught them at home and we able to teach them the restoration. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD LESSON. Tina told us how when we were teaching, she just felt like this was the right path for her. They both understood it so well and were even teaching themselves at points. The spirit is the coolest thing. It's so powerful. We are super pumped about them and I know they have been prepared for the gospel!

I was reading in Alma 36 this morning and found this scripture:

"...the Lord doth give me exceedingly great JOY in the fruit of my labors."

It's so true. If you want to experience pure joy, serve a mission. I'm serious :) I LOVE being a missionary and am grateful to Heavenly Father for allowing me to experience this joy.

I hope you all have the best week :)

sister hill
